Types of Articulating Man Lifts
The manlift is produced in electric-powered and engine-powered models. Depending on the industry and the function, man lifts are made to perform a wide array of jobs. There are some outdoor lifts which have a 69 foot horizontal lift and could rise up over 140 feet. There are some lifts which are specially made for small spaces. These units could rise 36 feet and extend 21 feet.
Generally, electric powered man lifts are utilized on concrete slabs indoors. They often have slim designs so as to easily fit into narrow spaces. Engine-powered man lifts typically operate on diesel, propane and gas. They are mostly designed for outdoor use.
Electric Man Lifts
The electric man lift is best suited for indoor use because they are designed smaller, more able to fit in tight spaces and fit through standard doorways. These units are able to maneuver around barriers and blockages, while still reaching overhead work places and do not contribute to air pollution.
There are some electric lifts which have a rotating platform. This mechanism allows for extremely targeted and precise movements. The lift controls have been engineered to implement efficiency and accuracy. The electric lifts are offered in numerous sizes. They are able to be used in places with high ceilings or in small warehouses. The electric drives utilize rechargeable batteries which could be recharged after the shift ends.
Engine-Powered Lifts
Articulating lifts that are engine-powered are engineered to work on all types of terrains. Some machinery come fitted with legs that hoist the body of the lift off its wheels to help create a more stable foundation. There are various other units that are specifically designed for uneven and rough terrain. Most of the lifts are able to handle five hundred lbs. Some units can even take on 600 pound loads. In these heavy-duty situations, the machinery can articulate over 140 feet high or sixty nine feet out in any direction.
During the past decade, telehandlers, also referred to as rough terrain variable reach forklifts, have exceeded the reputation of motorized mobile machinery. These machines have become the gem of the construction business and with good reason. These equipment are versatile, really strong and useful. As some manufacturers and models has exploded during the last 5 years or so, there are currently a few of these equipment readily offered on the market.
In technical terms, a telehandler is considered to be an ITA* Class 7 Powered Industrial Truck. This description means it is a rough terrain forklift, but just in name only. Any of the similarities between a vertical mast type of forklift and a telehandler literally ends on sight and on operation. There are some other major distinctions between the two machines discussed below.
A telehandler has a completely different appearance because it is equipped with a horizontal boom rather than a vertical mast. From a distance, a telehandler with a jib attachment can resemble more of a mobile crane rather than a forklift. The boom is able to extend and retract or telescope to lengths of thirty feet and beyond depending on the specific unit. The boom can also elevate to an angle from horizontal to approximately seventy degrees. Telehandlers have been referred to as "zoom booms" due to their ability to telescope. This name has become rather famous with the operators.
Another optional boom related function is known as a "Transaction". The telehandler equipped with this alternative mounted on the chassis. When the operator starts it, the boom will move back and forward for distances up to 8 feet or more. One of the major benefits of this function is that it allows the forks to be withdrawn from a load cleanly or with no snags and the forks can be inserted underneath cleanly, regardless of the boom angle.
The construction business have been changed by zoom booms. They can perform many jobs that used to take a lot more man-power and time to complete.
